How upgrading your kitchen can increase your home’s value

Taking a cheap kitchen and making it look expensive, is an art mastered by Niki and her team.

The Requirement

My husband and I brought our house in 2010 and started the journey of updating the house from its 1980 décor. The picture to the right is our Kitchen the day we moved in, a decent Kitchen but was not in keeping with the décor across the house nor functional in the placing of cupboards and utilities.

best-10-inch-sliding-compound-miter-sawWe decided to rent out our house and at short notice were looking for someone who would come and fit the new kitchen. I contacted Niki at Niki Nana through recommendation; I was asking Niki to get someone to fit the Kitchen the following week.

With no hesitation Niki was at our house that night for me to talk through the requirement and the quote was with me by the following day.

The Solution

I had already designed and ordered the kitchen using the Ikea Kitchen planner, thankfully Niki knew the plasterer that I use and worked with my electrician of choice, making a complete team that could communicate well amongst themselves. The kitchen was stripped by me, the plasterer came in on the Monday evening, Niki and her team were in for the rest of the week to complete the Kitchen.

The interesting thing working with Niki and team is their ability to see the urgency in getting the job done and completing it around other commitments.

The Outcome

The outcome from Niki and team was a cheap Kitchen installed to a highly polished standard, the worktop connections were of a craftsman’s finish, the silicone beading was immaculate and the small finishing touch solutions above the fridge and choosing to use the cabinet plinth instead of new skirting board, created a seamless look all the way around the room. The fine woodworking was crafted beautifully by Niki and her Festool Kapex KS 120 miter saw (according ot her the best rated miter saw available today)

For every person that has visited the house they have been astounded by my value R8000.00 Kitchen from Mr Price Home. Thanks to Niki and team they have helped me to understand that the quality of finish comes from within the hands of a trusted craftsman and not by the expense spent on the product.

In total we have spent R20,000 on the Kitchen, flooring, extractor fan and cost of labour with Niki and team.

The Future

Since the work done on the Kitchen we have had decking fitted in the Garden and Niki Nana are responsible for all DIY on our rental properties. Ther has seen them fit new fencing after the storm, a new shower screen, custom made cupboard doors, a hand rail on the stairs and re-silicone the bath.

I have recommended Niki to my Father-in-law and 3 friends. Alongside ther Niki is in mind to help with a complete re-fit to my father’s flat in Steyning and will support my husband and me in our new venture of renovating properties. We would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and would insist you get in contact with him now, if you are looking for someone who will guarantee a quality finish, has a man that can tackle every house hold task from general DIY to extensions and will provide an honest service.

If we ever decide to sell our home (which isn’t likely to happen soon), staging our home won’t be hard work with ther beautiful new kitchen.

Many thanks to all at Nikinana and here is to more work.
